UL Bohemian Women’s Team Advance to second round of the Munster Senior Cup

Another convincing display by the Robins saw them run in 9 tries and 5 conversions to defeat Ballincollig RFC in the Munster Senior Cup by 55 points to Nil. The winning margin does not reflect the pattern of the game as the home-side put up a strong display in attack and defence in a very lively encounter. Last weekend was again a busy weekend for our underage teams with four teams taking part in competitions Our U13 team took on Shannon RFC on Sunday morning in a sunny Annacotty in the Development league at 1.00 pm. Shannon got off to a very strong start scoring 4 tries to nil in the first half. However, our lads showed a lot of determination in the second half scoring 2 unanswered tries, final score 4 tries to 2 in Shannon’s favour. On a day made for rugby UL Bohemain RFC U15’s took to the the pitch in Pa Healy’s field (better know in modern terms as Grove Island). Is was a fitting venue considering the opposition, the combination of Ballina/Killaloe and St Marys are in part coached by the great Brendan Foley who cut his very teeth as a young rugby player in this very same venue some years ago. UL Bohemian Women’s seconds get another win in the development league

A trip to the sunny southeast to play Waterpark resulted in a bonus point win for the Robins in their second game of the league. Due to limited numbers on both sides the game kicked off with 14 players each and played with uncontested scrums. It was a lively game despite the restrictions. Waterpark opened the scoring with Alisha Flynn getting close in and Chloe Beukes converting. Rebecca O’Shea quickly replied scoring for the Robins. UL Bohemian women go top of All Ireland Div 1 League with a convincing win over Old Belvedere.

A beautiful Autumnal afternoon was added to by very entertaining game of Rugby between two top club teams in AIL Div1.The opening score of the game following a five-metre scrum from the Belvo line when Sarah Quin gathered and crashed over. Another try was then scored by scrum half Courtney Duhig on 17 minutes.  A great amount of open and skilful play resulted in full back Aoife Corey making a solo run and went in under the posts for the third try with Nicole Cronin adding the conversion. Historic day for UL Bohemian RFC as for the first time a Second Fifteen played in The Munster Women’s Division 2 League.

For the record on October 3rd 2021 Skibbereen RFC travelled to Limerick to take on the Robins Second team in the Division 2 League. This game was played in some very mixed weather on the North Campus at UL. Both teams started with a lot of determination for this much anticipated game. There was good interactions and skilful handling and passing by both teams. Eventually Claire O’Brien got in for the first try of the day for the home-side after 15 minutes. UL Bohemian Senior Men lost out to a well drilled Dolphin RFC side in opening game in the AIL.

UL Bohemian RFC where beaten by a well drilled Dolphin side who, on the whole, deserved their victory last Saturday in the opening game of the Men’s AIL. Dolphin started fast with a penalty from close range. A scrum penalty won by the starting front row of Pauric Nesbitt, Connor Botha & Phil Poillot gave Harry Byrne the opportunity to level the scores from the kicking tee just a few minutes later. UL Bohemian RFC U20s Kick off the Donal Walsh League with a win over Dolphin/Sundays Well on Saturday 20th October

Dolphin/ Sundays Well started the stronger scoring a converted try within the first 90 seconds of the game. Boh’s  battled hard and responded with a Dylan O Connor try soon followed by a 100m intercept run from Tadgh Walsh. UL Bohemian U14 Boys lost out Narrowly to Old Crescent RFC in a brilliant display of rugby by both teams in hard conditions.

Away to neighbours Old Crescent for this fixture with both teams having fared well in their respective opening salvos a couple of weeks previously. Conditions were mixed, a typical autumnal Irish affair, not too fond of the weather, just wait five minutes as they say. Both teams fought hard to get into the game with some handling errors creeping in which interrupted momentum.
