Last weekend was again a busy weekend for our underage teams with four teams taking part in competitions
Our U13 team took on Shannon RFC on Sunday morning in a sunny Annacotty in the Development league at 1.00 pm. Shannon got off to a very strong start scoring 4 tries to nil in the first half. However, our lads showed a lot of determination in the second half scoring 2 unanswered tries, final score 4 tries to 2 in Shannon’s favour. This is the team’s first defeat of the season and as we all know some times you learn more from defeat than victory. Role on the next fixture.
Final score Shannon 26 – UL Bohemian 12
Our U15s where up against a combined team of Ballina/Killaloe and St Marys. The game started a a relatively low pace with each of the sides cautiously testing the others defences. The home side had the majority of the possession in the opening ten minutes but failed to make any great penetration into the Bohs half of the field. Bohs defend quite well albeit without dominating the contest. You can read the full march report on the link below – Final Score was UL Bohemian RFC 30 Ballina/Killaloe and St Marys 5
Our U17 Game was postponed and being played on 14th Oct 2021 – results and report to follow next week
Our U18.5’s played their second game in Conference 1 PAN Munster v Garryowen in a sun drenched Annacotty.
This was this groups first competitive home game since March 2020. In a really enjoyable and well contested game the visitors prevailed with the lead changing hands on 3 occasions.
Garryowen got off to a great start with a well taken early try but UL Bohs battled back well for the remainder of the half leading 7-5 for a long period before conceding a penalty and going in a point down at the break. Despite UL Bohs having a lot of the ball and good territory Garryowen scored two tries which proved to be decisive.
Again UL Bohs battled back hard and scored a try and were unlucky not to add another after being held up over the line. This was a much improved performance from round 1 against a strong Garryowen team and there is plenty of positives to take into round 3 which will be a difficult task away to one of the conference favourites Young Munster’s.
Best of luck to Garryowen for the remainder of the season and well done to Sean Moore (MAR) for adding to a great game.
Final Score 22-10
