Another convincing display by the Robins saw them run in 9 tries and 5 conversions to defeat Ballincollig RFC in the Munster Senior Cup by 55 points to Nil. The winning margin does not reflect the pattern of the game as the home-side put up a strong display in attack and defence in a very lively encounter. However, the Robins got the opening score when Chloe Pearse crossed the line on 7 minutes. This was soon followed up by player of the game Sarah Garrett to get try number 2 which Nicole Cronin added the conversion. Two more tries were scored by Aoife Corey and again Nicole converted both. Just before the break Aoife Bowman-Grangel brought the score to 31 points to nil.
Ten minutes after the re-start Lily Brady scored try number 6 with Nicole Cronin with a successful conversion. And then Nicole crossed for her own try. In the final quarter Chloe Pearse and Stephanie Nunan brought the try count to 9 and Helen McDermott added 1 conversion to finalise the match with a well- deserved win for the Robins. Again, Ballincollig continued with their efforts throughout the game but Bohs proved too strong for them on the day.
Sarah Garrett was player of the game.
It was great to meet up with our former head coach Fiona Hayes who is now doing a fantastic job with Ballincollig RFC.
