Away to neighbours Old Crescent for this fixture with both teams having fared well in their respective opening salvos a couple of weeks previously. Conditions were mixed, a typical autumnal Irish affair, not too fond of the weather, just wait five minutes as they say. Both teams fought hard to get into the game with some handling errors creeping in which interrupted momentum.
Odhran Gilroy at nine made a couple of brilliant reads to steal away possession from his opposing number while both packs were scrummaging with intent under the stewardship of the Referee. Cormac Devitt ran in one off an intercepted pass while Brian Lane picked well from the base of the ruck to score on the line. There were big carries from Sam Faherty and Daniel Zwiegela with some great defence work from the backs getting off the line well.
The score at one point stood at 14-12 to Old Crescent.
UL Bohemian RFC did their level best to pull it back leading to the Referee asking the Old Crescent Captain to have a chat with his players regarding the penalty count. Ultimately Old Crescent put away their scores moving the ball to the wide channels scoring four tries with three converted finishing worthy winners. In conclusion, a good opportunity to get game time with the Development League living up to its title.
Next League Fixture is on Sunday, 17th of October, 2021 at home to Young Munster.
Training resumes Thursday 6.30pm in Annacotty.
