For the record on October 3rd 2021 Skibbereen RFC travelled to Limerick to take on the Robins Second team in the Division 2 League. This game was played in some very mixed weather on the North Campus at UL.
Both teams started with a lot of determination for this much anticipated game. There was good interactions and skilful handling and passing by both teams. Eventually Claire O’Brien got in for the first try of the day for the home-side after 15 minutes. This was quickly followed by a brilliant solo run by Avril Condell to score under the posts for Skibbereen and convert her own try. Just before the break Lily Brady got the second try for the Robins which was converted by Helen McDermott. HT score UL Bohs 12 to Skibbereen 7.
There were no further scores until 16 minutes after the restart with a great try by Shelley Ring and a successful convert by Helen McDermott. Louise Costello ran nearly 50 meters to get another try and again Helen added the 2 points. Two more tries were added just before fulltime by Shannon Dawson and Lily Brady with a conversion by Helen.
Skibbereen provided some very good play and kept up the pressure throughout the game until the final whistle.
