The Team travelled to County Clare to play at Scariff against Scariff/St. Marys in the third round of the league. Bohs opened the scoring with a try halfway through the first half through solid defence followed by good forward ball, quick ruck, fix n’ pass through midfield and a fine finish from Ryan Angley showing the acceleration of an E.V. The second try followed a couple of minutes later from a penalty with Kevin Griffin hot stepping off both feet to present well and Caden Smith picking from the base to score through the crease. The third try came from…
Dear Robins, It feels like only last week that I wrote to you at the beginning of the season. Time has flown by and it’s been a roller coaster ride on the pitch and off it. On the pitch we did not have the best of starts in the AIL, and off it we sadly said goodbye to some dear friends; Past Presidents Eamonn Tobin and Alan Condell, and much-loved UL Bohs under 17 coach and President of Newport Declan Ryan. However, we’re finishing the year on a high with every reason to be optimistic going into the New Year!…

With the development league well and truly in the rear-view mirror, Bohs welcomed St. Senan’s to Annacotty in the first League-League game of the season … Both teams gave it their best shot and no doubt were optimistic for the day. Bohs however proved worthy winners with fine run-catch-pass on show. The photos included show the boys working hard to support in attack and get across in defence. There were great carries from the pack and nice back line on show. The ever-speedy Cormac Devitt bagged a brace while Ben O’Connell picked from the back of the ruck and identifying…

The last of the 2021 Development League Games saw the U14 Robins travel to the Banner Country to play west Clare side Kilrush RFC. The rolling vistas and fresh air made for a fine start to a Sunday morning for players and supporters alike. The team played well displaying some sound fundamentals and nice integrated team defence and attack scoring nine tries along the journey. Every player had a good ‘cut’ during the match and the team spirit on display was very encouraging. In rugby, team work to set up scoring opportunities are vital and central to the game, examples…
This was an old school Friday Night Lights AIL classic. There was the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between for both sides. Bohs came out on top with a final scoreline of 18-14, but this one was not for the feint hearted. Cashel opened the scoring with a penalty off the tee from Steve McMahon, before a great response from Bohs led to a strong maul being pulled down right at the try line, referee Glenn Sheridan had no choice but to award a penalty try. An offside penalty gave Cashel the opportunity to bring the score…
Last weekend we had three games with the U14s, U17s and U18.5 all taking to the field over the last 5 days. Up first is the match report from the U14s game vs Young Munster By any measure, an excellent game of rugby with two teams of young gladiators engaged in rugby combat, the onlookers fixated as the story unfolded. Bohs started well with Brendan Morrissey going at the line with a huge assist from Ben O’Connell on the latch to open the account. Young Munster had multiple big carries during the game, none more so than from midfield with…
