A trip to the sunny southeast to play Waterpark resulted in a bonus point win for the Robins in their second game of the league. Due to limited numbers on both sides the game kicked off with 14 players each and played with uncontested scrums. It was a lively game despite the restrictions. Waterpark opened the scoring with Alisha Flynn getting close in and Chloe Beukes converting. Rebecca O’Shea quickly replied scoring for the Robins. Next up was Shannon Dawsons to put the visitors in the lead. However, two minutes later Alisha Flynn put Waterpark in the lead with her second try. HT Score Waterpark 12 to UL Bohemian 10.
Immediately after the restart the home side went further ahead with a try by Erica Kiely. It wasn’t very long before Leah Melling brought the score back on level points with her try and successful conversion by Lorraine O’Connor. Ten minutes later Rebecca O’Shea got the 4th try for the Robins with Lorraine O’Connor again adding the 2 points. Going into the last quarter saw Shannon Dawsons making a brilliant solo run down the left wing to run in under the posts for try number 5. Lorraine O’Connor completed her third conversion of the day. Waterpark came back once again with Missy Rochford scoring their bonus point try. The last ten minutes were played at a frantic pace with strong defensive and attack rugby. The Robins held out and won by 31 points to 22.
Player of the game was Shannon Dawsons and double celebrations for her birthday.
Both teams played with a lot of commitment, and it was agreed that the game was of great benefit for all the players. UL Bohemians would like to express our appreciation and thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality on their first visit to Waterpark.
