UL BOHEMIAN UNDERAGE WEEKEND RESULTS AND UP COMING FIXTURES 19/10/2021

Last weekend we had three games with the U14s, U17s and U18.5 all taking to the field over the last 5 days.

Up first is the match report from the U14s game vs Young Munster

By any measure, an excellent game of rugby with two teams of young gladiators engaged in rugby combat, the onlookers fixated as the story unfolded. Bohs started well with Brendan Morrissey going at the line with a huge assist from Ben O’Connell on the latch to open the account. Young Munster had multiple big carries during the game, none more so than from midfield with Bohs battling hard to contain excellent direct running.

Brendan Morrissey was again involved when he picked off the ground from a restart and after fine evasion work, straightened and released Ryan Angley at the centre line who brought the heat to score the second try, converted by Cormac Devitt. Young Munster tightened the bootstraps and scored two tries, one converted, to make it 12 – 12 at half time.

Young Munster scored a converted try early in the second half to go into the lead with things looking good for the visiting team. Bohs however were far from finished with the defence firing off the line, closing the space and putting pressure on the YM ball carry. The effort paid dividends when Lee Hogan dropped on a spilled pass to score and bring the game back level after Cormac Devitt knocked over the conversion.

Heading into the final quarter and after sustained teamwork at the breakdown, the ball went wide with Cormac Devitt (more heat) scoring and Ryan Angley converting. There were immense carries from the likes of Michael Landers and Kevin Griffin, with Enda Collins at nine bringing the passion required to embolden his pack when they needed it.

Training resumes Thursday 6.30pm in Annacotty.

Next Fixture is on Sunday, 24th of October 2021 at home to Nenagh Ormond RFC.
